Biotricklingfilter
Space-saving biological exhaust air treatment
Optimum biological exhaust air purification
Discover the symbiosis of biofilter and counter-current scrubber in a state-of-the-art system! With a compact design and high specific surface area of the packing, we offer a solution that efficiently treats even high concentrations of pollutants such as H2S. Our technology is based on proven biological exhaust air purification, but with a decisive advantage: the sorption of pollutants takes place in a trickle bed instead of a conventional filter bed. This innovative design is similar to a packed-bed scrubber, but works with a significantly lower sprinkling density, which considerably increases efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Decide for quality and innovation – choose our system!

A biotrickling filter is an exhaust air treatment system that utilises biological processes to break down exhaust air pollutants into harmless products. It is often used to remove odorous and harmful compounds from industrial exhaust air streams. The functioning of a biotrickling filter begins with the introduction of the polluted exhaust air into the filter. There, the exhaust air encounters a special carrier material covered with a biofilm of microorganisms. A continuous supply of nutrient solution and water via the carrier material ensures that the microorganisms are nourished and the pollutants in the exhaust air are dissolved. These microorganisms decompose the pollutants, such as hydrogen sulphide, ammonia or organic compounds, into harmless products such as water, carbon dioxide and biomass. Finally, the now purified exhaust air is discharged from the system.
The biotrickling filter offers several advantages. It is particularly effective at removing organic and inorganic gaseous pollutants and reducing odours. By utilising natural biological processes, it is environmentally friendly and reduces the use of chemicals. Compared to chemical scrubber or adsorption systems, operating costs are often lower as no expensive chemicals are required. With the right maintenance, a biotrickling filter can work reliably for many years and can be adapted to different pollutant concentrations and exhaust air volumes.
Biotrickling filters are unbeatable when it comes to cleaning odour-intensive or low-concentration exhaust air. They are also suitable for exhaust air containing VOCs, where other processes would be economically or ecologically unviable.
