From June 2-6, AHK Mexiko | CAMEXA in collaboration with German Water Partnership organized a business delegation trip to Mexico City and Monterrey on behalf of the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWE) to promote German innovation in sustainable water and wastewater technologies.
Why Mexico?
Mexico is among the countries most affected by severe water stress. With many wastewater treatment plants operating inefficiently or not at all, the demand for sustainable and efficient water technologies is immense. Investment needs of over $5 billion USD by 2034 signal long-term opportunities for German companies.
Delegation Highlights
The delegation kicked off with a high-level conference on “Circular Economy in the Mexican Water Sector” featuring local key stakeholders like Conagua (Comisión Nacional del Agua), SEMARNAT, Instituto Mexicano de Tecnología del Agua, ANEAS de México A.C. and CMIC CDMX. Further highlights were:
- Presentations by German participants showcasing their expertise in sustainable water and wastewater management.
- Networking opportunities and B2B meetings, allowing German SMEs to forge partnerships with local companies and explore collaboration. opportunities
- Various project visits, including a visit to the wastewater treatment plant PTAR Atotonilco.
